I'm glad you received my card and present in time, but sorry that your father's birthday greeting was so exasperating. Parents can be such a trial, can't they? I'm fortunate, I suppose that I've never doubted that mine truly cared for me, but I have rather a problem in the other direction: they are sometimes TOO warm, to the point that it's almost embarrassing.
See! I told you when you sometimes feared that school would drag on forever, that you would actually come to this point. Won't it feel like the most exciting freedom in the world when you step on that train tomorrow? I do plan to be at the the station when it arrives so I can give you a proper welcome home greeting. Won't be long until I see you again!
